Titanic week 26-30th March

The last week of Spring term the whole school did a Titanic Project. On Monday and Friday all the teachers dressed up as if they were going on the Titanic.

On Friday the children had the chance to dress in Titanic style clothes, the Echo even came to take pictures of us in our fancy clothes!

Chicks

On the 29th March we were very lucky to have the chance to hold some chicks which had hatched in the Nursery.

Titanic Workshop

On Tuesday 27th March, Year 1 and 2 were lucky to have a theatre company come into school and give them the 'Titanic experience.'

We looked at pictures advertising the Titanic as the most luxurious ship of her time. People believed it was 'unsinkable.'

We pretended to build the ship in Belfast and even tried to talk with Irish accents.

We waved goodbye to the ship as she departed for the journey to New York.

We pretended to be both 1st and 3rd class passengers and compared how different their experiences would have been. We then talked about the very sad fact that the ship crashed into an iceberg and sank.

SeaCity Museum

Friday 23rd March
Year 2 were one of the lucky few year groups chosen to visit the SeaCity museum before it opened to the public. The children were able to try on clothes similar to what they would have worn 100 years ago and they had the chance to try out Titanic activities.
The children would definately recommend visiting the museum.

Gymnastics Festival

On Tuesday 20th March, 8 lucky year 1 children attended a gymnastics festival at Southampton Gymnastics Club.

We performed a routine which we had been practising for weeks! It went very well and we are proud of our achievement.

We had the chance to try all the apparatus they had at the gym and had so much fun.

Watch the video of our routine below.

We jumped on the trampoline.

We made shapes along the track.

We used a springboard to jump onto the box.

We practised making shapes on the floor mats.

We practised walking along the high beam.

We stretched our muscles on the floor mats.

We had a fantastic day and we are very proud of all of our hard work.

Year 2 visit the Common

Year 2 has such fun walking all the way to the Common to explore the woodland environment and search for minibeasts as part of their project. It was lovely weather for their walk but they were so tired by the time they got back to school!

Reception visit the farm

On Friday 9th March the Reception children visited Longdown dairy farm as part of their animals project. Look at all the fun they had!

The children learnt a lot about the animals on the farm and how they care for them.

They got to stroke and even hold some small animals like Guinea Pigs and Chicks.
